About Robert...

Robert is a highly experienced pragmatic solutions focused lawyer with a long career advising clients how to avoid, mitigate and resolve complex commercial disputes. He is a well respected technology lawyer and was for 21 years a senior in house counsel for IBM. Robert started his legal career in the City with Macfarlanes and subsequently Clyde & Co where he managed extensive multi jurisdictional litigation and arbitration dealing mostly with international trade. He left IBM and founded Jurit as a values based firm in 2014 in response to the need by clients to have access to a team of excellent senior commercial lawyers with both in house and private practice perspectives and experience and a specialist focus on supporting businesses in an innovative client focused manner.

In IBM Robert advised the business on corporate matters, numerous very substantial outsourcing and industry alliance transactions and managed dispute resolution throughout Europe, the US, Asia and the UK. He worked at the European HQ in Paris supporting the IBM consulting business prior to and subsequent to its acquisition of PWCC, and was responsible for support of complex systems integration and services based transactions in various jurisdictions including Australia, Germany, Turkey, Japan and Australia. Robert was globally responsible within IBM for all legal matters relating to Vodafone. In addition he assisted in the management of all troubled contracts with customers within the consulting business throughout Europe.

His experience of both complex multi jurisdictional litigation and of finding creative solutions to complex operational problems in the IT industry has led him to a strong commitment to the value of ADR and he is a well regarded mediator who works closely with an extended team of experienced technology mediators who understand the unique challenges of this sector.

Since his return to private practice Robert has principally focused his energies on creating this innovative law firm in support of a wide range of clients as well as pursuing interests in renewable energy projects and community engagement in climate change issues.

Robert is committed to leading Jurit as a modern law firm committed to providing clients with the highest quality legal and business support delivered in a pragmatic, experienced and cost effective manner designed to help clients be better at what they do. We believe that our lawyers can make a significant and positive difference and we strive to deliver real value to our clients and the clients that they serve based on the practical application of our service values.
