Civil Mediation
Many disputes tend to begin with the question "what are my legal rights" and "have I got a case?".

Lots of people commence litigation to get justice. Usually, the parties then agree to a settlement before a judge has the opportunity to decide the outcome.

Unfortunately, whilst the parties have embarked on this pathway, much money has been spent on legal fees and more precious time has been wasted.

With the litigation route there's always a winner and a loser, as the judge decides an outcome and both parties cannot win.

Mediation in the civil context is a form of assisted negotiation. The parties retain control and the mediator usually shuffles between them to help them resolve their dispute. This can often be done within a single day.

Parties can still have a legal representative attend with them, but it is for the parties to talk through the issues, concerns and aspirations with the mediator and the other party.
